Season 2 spoilers ahead!! You've been warned....

I was recommended this anime by a former coworker while the first season was airing. Since then, for the most part, I have been watching it as it releases. The first season was fun to watch - it was funny, the characters were entertaining and relatable (Taira and Nishi in particular), and I enjoyed all the character dynamics.

In the second season, I've really enjoyed seeing Nishi and Yamada's relationship continue in particular. The focus on "Tairazuma" has been really fun to watch as well! That said, this season has still fallen flat for me. There are a lot of timeskips and it really feels as if there just wasn't enough "content" to fill out a whole season. I don't know if this is how the manga is paced, so I'm not sure if this is a result of adaptation or just how the story is. From what I've read, it appears to be the latter. But tbf, I haven't read it and could be mistaken.

Suzuki and Tani's dynamic has also not been very interesting to watch lately. I believe that if some of the conflict was elevated, then maybe this wouldn't be the case (e.g. taking Suzuki suggesting seperating seriously rather than resolving it immediately). This season, especially towards the end, feels like a whole lot of nothing with a few really good episodes/scenes thrown in.

The highlights of this season for me have definitely been Nishi/Yamada getting together (finally!!) and getting see wayy more of Taira and Azuma's dynamic. But that aside, this season doesn't really hit the same as the first did. I just hope that the series wraps up nicely and doesn't pad out the last episode too much. This really could have been a shorter show imo.

I'm also aware that none of these thoughts are particularly controversial or new. Many, if not most, of these opinions are general consensus. Regardless, I wanted to write my thoughts before the final episode airs :)

Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia - very general thoughts

09-13-2026

The manga for this had been on my TBR for a bit, but when I saw that it was receiving an anime adaptation, I went ahead and read it before the show began airing. Both the manga and anime are really good. I'm especially glad Science Saru decided to pick this one up. I wasn't really sure how the animation would look because of the stylized art, but it turned out very well! It was surprising beautiful, actually! The music is also well-done throughout (as in the entire soundtrack, not just the intro/outro, though those are good too). There were definitely instruments I didn't recognize, so I'm wondering if they are specific to Mongolia or the time period the anime is set in.

It's kind of funny that I've been reading two different manga set in Mongolia at the same time- A Witch's Life in Mongol and Shut Hell. I haven't finished Shut Hell yet, but it's one of my favorites I've read so far, and in some ways I'm shocked it never received an adaptation. Reading so much set in the Mongol Empire makes me want to read more about the history, so I'm planning to read The Mongols by David Morgan, as well as watch the 2004 Genghis Khan series. I used to be really into history, and watching historical anime has kind of brought that back for me.

Impatiently Waiting for Fall 2026 Anime!

09-03-2026.

I'm really looking forward to the anime set to release this fall!! The shows I plan to watch are Firefly Wedding, Tetsuryou! Meet with Tetsadou Musume, Yowake Max Reijou Nanoni, and Ace of Diamond Act II S2P2.

I actually started reading Firefly Wedding so I could know the story before the anime airs. It's about a girl in a wealthy family who is kidnapped in an attempted assassination. However, she cleverly escapes death by offering to marry the man hired to kill her. The art is so beautiful and I'm really glad I chose to start reading ahead!

Tetsuryou! is about a slice-of-life about a college girls in a train club. I'm curious about this one and am excited to watch an anime with a college student cast!

Yowake Max Reijou Nanoni is an isekai based on a light novel. A college student is reborn and afterwards gains her memories of her studies in paleontology. She aims to continue this pursuit in her new life, despite being reborn into a villainess role. I find paleontology fascinating and have been wanting to watch more isekai, so this one looks interesting to me.

Finally, Ace of Diamond Act II S2 P2, a baseball anime! I love this anime so much! The studio change was unfortunate, but I'm still looking forward to seeing the show continue.

08-26-2026. REVOLUTIONARY GIRL UTENA ON A MAGAZINE!

Found this anime magazine from (I believe) the year 2000 at a game store a little while back. Anyways, I was surprised to see a magazine featuring one of my favorite anime on the cover! I held off buying it at first but ended up returning the next week to get it. There was a Gundam magazine from 1999 as well, but I didn't buy it as I haven't seen any Gundam (yet!). I figure there's a fan who'll appreciate it more than I would.
